Jessica Keigan, a District Twelve EA member, teaches English at Horizon High School in Thornton. In her EdNews Colorado commentary, Keigan writes about dividing her time evenly between teaching her students and spending the other hours of her workday researching, writing and advocating on behalf of her Denver New Millennium Initiative team. Her experience has led her to advocate for more teachers being in the forefront of making and implementing education policy.
The Denver New Millennium Initiative team consists of 38 innovative, early-career educators employed in various Denver Metro school districts. They come together to share knowledge of education policy and best practices with the overarching goal of dramatically improving student learning.
