Retired members of the Boulder Valley Education Association (BVEA-R) came to the state capitol to participate in CEA Lobby Day. Their aim: to engage with legislators from across the state and advocate for critical issues facing schools and retired educators alike.

During their discussions with legislators, the retired educators highlighted pressing challenges confronting schools across Colorado. From funding shortages to the need for increased resources and support for educators, they provided firsthand insights into the realities of working their entire careers in education.

One of the focal points of their advocacy efforts was the importance of ensuring the sustainability of the Public Employees’ Retirement Association (PERA) system. Having relied on this system throughout their careers, the retired educators understand its critical role in providing financial security for retired educators. Their conversations with legislators underscored the urgency of protecting and strengthening the PERA system to support both current and future retirees.

To the retired members of the Boulder Valley Education Association and retired educators across Colorado, we extend our deepest appreciation. Thank you for your dedicated service to public schools, and thank you for continuing to advocate for the profession long after retirement. By bridging the gap between retired and current educators, we strengthen our collective voice. Together, we can build a bright future for students, educators, and communities across Colorado.
